Blini Czar

Posted: May 25, 2010

994 Bay St.

For lunch today my sister and I visited a new place called Blini Czar. We decided to try this place since it was a team buy deal. We got two Blinis and two drinks for $8 (great deal!). What is a Blini? It is a russian pancake/crepe filled with meats and vegetables etc. We ordered one turkey fillet and one salmon fillet. Both were okay, it was my first time trying this, and first bite was amazing. However as we kept eating it was a little too creamy for our tastes, there was too much sour cream / goat cheese. We got sick of it pretty quick, however yes, it was tasty. Good deal for $8 especially how one blini for regular price is around 10 dollars with tax. I would not come back unless team buy (www.teambuy.ca) has another deal.

Friday Night a few friends and I went to Tako Sushi for dinner. We ordered soft-shelled crab for an appitizer and two big sushi boats! Yum! Fish was fresh. However they messed up our order and forgot to include the salmon sashimi in the boat. Overall decent, but I've had better

Hot Chicken Sandwich

Posted: May 16, 2010

I haven't posted anything in a while, so I'm going to be posting a ton of things in the next little while. The other day, sometime this week, I made myself a hot chicken sandwich. It's basically an open faced chicken sandwich with gravy. I topped mine off with my favourite gravy, which is from KFC! This was delicious!

The Fat Belgian

Posted on: May 10, 2010

Friday night, two of my sisters, my brother in law, Brian and I visited The Fat Belgian. I brought Brian here earlier this year for his birthday dinner, and it was officially the best duck we have ever tasted. If I could afford it, I would have dinner here every night. Brian, my sister Susan and I had the the Duck Roquette. My sister Anh had the Belgian Beer Ribs. Lastly, my brother in-law Tan had the Braised Rabbit and Mushroom Risotto.

Duck Roquette:
Tender duck breast thinly sliced, accompanied with a light sage and leek risotto on roquette lettuce dressed with a red currant and pomegranate balsamic vinaigrette.

Belgian Beer Ribs:
Tender pork back ribs with a tangy, spicy barbeque sauce made with Petrus Old Brown beer. Served with fresh Belgian frites and homemade mayonnaise

Braised Rabbit and Mushroom Risotto:
Tender pulled rabbit braised in Belgian abbey beer in a wild mushroom risotto. Finished with parmesan cheese and 35 year aged balsamic.

Soup-filled Dumplings

Posted: May 11, 2010

I personally am a huge fan of soup-filled dumplings. The best ones I have tried so far are at Asian Legends. They are just different from all the other dumpling places I've tried. It is super juicy compared to other restauranta. I visited Asian Legends with my family on Sunday, so I had a chance to take a picture of these. Yum! I am craving these as I speak!!!

Guu Izakaya
398 Church Street
Toronto, ON M5B 1Z8‎

Today we visited Guu, we arrived before it opened and there was already a lineup! This was an amazing restaurant, and the staff were all super friendly, greeting guests as they arrive and leave. Our favourite dish was the Kinoko Bibimbap, Kakimayo oysters, and Aburi salmon. Everything we ordered was amazing and unlike anything we've tasted. I cannot say anything bad about any of our dishes, they were all delicious. The prices were also very reasonable. We will definitely become a regular a Guu.

"ABURI SALMON" Lightly seared atlantic salmon sashimi with ponzu sauce and wasabi mayo

"TAKOYAKI" Deep fried puffed octopus balls served with TONKATSU sauce and mustard mayo

Salad Creations

Posted on: May 4, 2010

Today for lunch my sister and I went to Salad Creations, we got the "Full Creation" and kind of got a little greedy on toppings (it was unlimited). We also added Atlantic salmon for an extra $3.50. Overall, it was a good salad, and worth it only because we purchased a $25 gift card from www.teambuy.ca for $10 :)... We kinda wished we shared haha
